Dynamics Bill of Materials provides a superior solution for tracking the components and subassemblies used in light manufacturing and similar production and assembly operations.

Direct integration with Dynamics Inventory Control means all inventory users throughout the system will have access to the same accurate information at the same time. This means when you record an assembly run, your sales team will know they have additional quantities to sell, and your purchasers will know when they need to order additional raw materials.

Track complicated bills with ease

Multi-level bills: Describe the exact order of your assembly process using bills up to 10 levels deep. Individual components also can be inserted multiple times in the same bill to accommodate sequenced component assembly bills.

Active, pending and obsolete bills: Bill of Materials makes it easy to track your current items, plan for future changes and keep track of past items for reference. Each item you track can include one active bill, one pending bill, and an unlimited number of obsolete bills.

Active, pending and obsolete components: Analyze the life cycle of your bills by assigning these same statuses to each component. Only active components will be used during assembly. This allows you to easily track your past, current, and future item assignments per bill.

Multiple stock method options for subassemblies: You have full control over the assembly process, including how to relieve inventory for subassemblies that are part of a bill. Choose to use a subassembly previously built and in stock, build one when your stock is depleted, or build one as part of the bill assembly process, regardless of on-hand quantities in inventory.

Per-item and setup costs: To ensure the actual cost is calculated accurately for the assembled item, you can specify whether the cost for each component is required for each unit assembled, or whether it is a one-time (setup) cost.

Assembly documentation: Electronic notes can be attached to components and subassemblies and printed on the single-level or indented bill, detailing exactly how the components should be used in the assembly.

Copy components between bills: Efficiently create new bills by copying components from existing bills with similar structure.

Record assemblies with complete control and flexibility

Active bills only: To prevent unintentional assemblies of pending or obsolete bills, only active bills are capable of being assembled.

Scheduled transactions: You control when inventory stock is allocated, simply by specifying whether the assembly has moved to the production floor. This allows you to schedule transactions into the future without reserving stock.

Stock quantities: Record actual quantities used at all levels of the assembly, and Dynamics will track any differences between actual and planned quantities to help you spot potential inefficiencies in the manufacturing process.

Serial/lot number tracking: Dynamics makes it easy to track serial-numbered and lot-numbered items throughout the production process.

Component substitution: For those assemblies that allow for substitutions, you can create one bill and simply substitute components, helping you deal with stock shortages or make minor modifications to the bill.

Valuation method per item: Dynamics tracks valuation method for each item, and these valuation methods are honored upon posting of the assembly, so you can be sure your costs are tracked accurately in Inventory and General Ledger.

Drill downs: Dynamics enables you to instantly drill down on key information to uncover the underlying details. Drill down from General Ledger inventory account journal entries to the originating assembly transaction, or drill down from the bill of materials to the inventory records for each item.

Bill of Materials reporting: You have full control over the number of levels you print on bills, so you can show as much or as little detail as you need. In addition, you can choose to print the assembly notes on the bill for process documentation.
